Personal trainer wherever you are

About me
Being a personal trainer since 2009 and journeying along with some of my life-long clients (mainly women); I've learnt as much from them as they have from our sessions. I've realized that, as we matured, so did the landscape of fitness, it became a challenge for boomers and some millennials to connect with new platforms in which fitness was and is presented.
My in person one-on-one sessions with my clients were either at their homes or in my private gym studio in Trinidad. There will always be that need for that personal touch but due to unexpected back-to-back life challenges, I resorted to online only here in Canada. As I transitioned into this format my style of training changed (more home workouts, less gym); also, with newer fitness certifications in fitness such as Stress Resiliency and Active Aging.
However, my approach was always a holistic one from my twenties. I saw how poor lifestyle choices such as lack of proper diet, exercise and sleep can affect the body as we age. I did not want that for myself and inevitably the people around me.
I started going to the gym, yoga, and Pilates classes in my early twenties, improving my body from the inside was my main focus; muscular strength, healthy organs and bodily functions, core conditioning, maintaining bone density. The bonus was the actual physical aesthetic.
Eventually, I started spin and even kickboxing. However, certain activities are practised accordingly to goals. I believe balance is key and everything should be in moderation, as fitness encompasses many aspects of our well-being. We all need to enjoy life, quality over quantity. I do enjoy my wine ever so often.
But also, this holistic approach was in recognition that we are all aging. And if we train the mind and body from young, it will be in better condition as mature or even faced with life's adversities. Being in forties now this has proven true. The resiliency and discipline created is amazing, even bouncing back from major surgery.
The simple things we take for granted when young; like endurance, running around for hours or balance and stability when walking, how easily this can be lost as we age. But with the right lifestyle choices in activity, exercise, and diet even meditation, we develop proper mindfulness and condition.
